One of the promises of ACA (Adult Children of Alcoholics and Dysfunctional Families) is that we go from being a reactor to an actor in our lives. This means taking a proactive approach to our lives rather than reacting to what is happening. It means that we are being thoughtful, giving conscious consideration to what's going on around us, and making conscious decisions instead of reacting based on habits or patterns from the past. This week’s episode 305 of the Fragmented to Whole Podcast is about how to go from reactor to responder: breaking free from old patterns!

Some of the talking points I go over in this episode include:

  • The difference between reacting and responding, and why it’s a significant paradigm shift in recovery.
  • The role that awareness, decision-making, and learning to pause play in becoming a proactive person.
  • Practical strategies for experimenting with different behaviors and getting feedback to determine what works best for you.
  • Learning to view yourself as the solution, not the problem, and take empowered action towards the life you desire.

Moving from being a reactor to a responder is a journey that requires patience and practice, but the rewards are immense. By becoming more aware, making conscious choices, and experimenting with new ways of being, you can break free from old patterns and start living a life of purpose and fulfillment.

Be sure to tune in to all the episodes to receive tons of practical tips on living a more whole life and to hear even more about the points outlined above.
